Amethyst butterfly – brooch / pendant

5 000,00

The pendant (which also has the function of a brooch) is based on a real, huge butterfly, the wings of which have been hand-covered with many thin layers of silver. As a result of this process, the wings are completely burned out, leaving a perfect imprint of the butterfly’s spirit. To decorate them, I used the old Korean keum-boo technique, consisting in fusing 24 carat gold flakes onto the surface of the silver. The silver was oxidized black. The center of the butterfly is intensely purple ametrine. The butterfly can be worn as a pendant on amethyst strings with special hooks hidden behind the wings. To wear it as a brooch, simply unhook the hooks.

The piece was showcased during the “Fairy tales written with silver” exhibition in the Distrcit Museum in Toruń, Poland (2023) and during GemGeneve in Geneva, Switzerland (2023).
