Harbinger of rain

Silver brooch-pendant with a swallow motif, decorated with natural amethysts. The medallion (circle) itself belonged to a Client who asked me to create a new image for it. Together with the opal (which adorns the top cloud), the medallion is a family heirloom. I designed for it swallows chasing in the sky around amethysts. The middle drop has been cut and polished to my special order and has an extraordinary intensity of color. The swallows are the proverbial “harbingers of rain”.  After embedding all the elements, I noticed that the surface of the medallion has some natural drawings (traces of hammering) that remind me of clouds. Hence, I emphasized this motif on the front and back of the medallion. I associate the chains underneath with rain.
