I had the honor of participating in another exhibition in China, this time at the Henan Provincial National Museum. Five of my works were included in this extraordinary exhibition, for which I am immensely grateful to the curators. Below is the official description of the exhibition, along with photos showcasing its splendor and unparalleled beauty.
The exhibition “Gazing into Time” is the fifth edition of the prestigious series “Beauty Trapped in Time”, presented at the Henan Museum – one of the most important cultural institutions in China.
The display presents amber from a broad and multidimensional perspective – from its formation millions of years ago, through its physical and chemical properties and the presence of inclusions, to its significance in history, culture, and art. A special place in this narrative is devoted to amber within Polish heritage, as Poland has long been recognized as the world’s center of amber craftsmanship.
Visitors can admire over 1,000 exceptional exhibits created by 90 of Poland’s most outstanding artists, as well as works by renowned creators from other countries.
The collection includes both natural amber pieces of extraordinary diversity in form and color, and unique inclusions – time capsules preserving traces of ancient life. Alongside them are classical and contemporary works of jewelry, sculpture, and applied art, in which amber continues to play the leading role in a timeless artistic story.
The exhibition also presents amber masterpieces from the Qing Dynasty, from the Henan Museum’s collection, which stand as remarkable testaments to the artistry and refinement of ancient Chinese masters. Created from the same “gold of the North” that has been Poland’s pride for centuries, these works highlight the enduring connections between East and West, forming a symbolic dialogue between Chinese tradition and Poland’s amber heritage.
“Gazing into Time” is the largest temporary amber jewelry exhibition in the world – impressive not only for the number of exhibits but also for their artistic and cultural significance. It is a tribute to nature, time, and the creative imagination of humankind, uniting an ancient material with a modern artistic vision.
The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover the richness of Poland’s amber tradition and to experience its universal beauty, which has fascinated people around the world for centuries. It also serves as an invitation to visitors from all over the world to come to Poland – a land of exceptional charm, rich cultural heritage, breathtaking nature, and extraordinary historical treasures that make it a place truly worth seeing and experiencing in person.
