Butterfly wings – large, black and gold earrings

Silver earrings inspired by Graphium butterfly wings. Installation is in two places on the ear: on the cartilage and on the lower part of the ear (small stud earring). This allows the earring to be worn “vertically” along the length of the ear. It also gives it mobility and a slight “flutter” effect while moving head. The silver is decorated with 24k gold flakes by the old Korean keum-boo technique, which involves fusing gold and silver atoms together at high temperature, but without the use of solder. The contrast between the two metals was achieved by the use of the silver-reactive oxide. The earrings are signed.
