Harvest Mouse – necklace

This necklace has a special meaning for me because by making it I decided to acquire new skills that I always thought were unavailable to me. Let me start by saying that I found this piece of chrysoprase myself in Lower Silesia, during one of my mineral exploration expeditions. Chrysoprase is called “green gold” and in the times of kings it was considered a great wealth of Poland. I am extremely proud of it because I found it personally, it is the real thing, sweetened with the taste of adventure and treasure hunt. Additionally, on this specimen there are small  plant-like drawings, created by the crystallization of magnesite. The next step in my new passion was to cut this piece myself and polish it. Some time ago I posted pictures showing, that this cost my only 2 nails and a little bit of blood, but the joy was overwhelming.

Searching for the perfect crowning of this pleasant, hypnotic greenery, I came across pictures of a mouse called the “harvest mouse”, which is famous for climbing on ears, tulip flowers, thistles, dandelions and tirelessly collecting seeds for the winter. So I decided to make the joyful harvest-mouse a sassy, mobile decoration of my green meadow with golden ears. A trained eye will notice that it has a pink sapphire in the place of its mouse anus. A pink drop of tourmaline blushes under the ear, which beautifully enlivens the aquamarine-golden composition.
The rope is also made of chrysoprase, fastened with a gold-plated ear.
