Ring for Lula

Ring designed for a special order. The main motif of the design was a delicate moon with a black star (black diamond), which often appeared in the drawings of the person for whom the ring is intended. Its center is an unusual stone – a lunar meteorite, i.e. a real fragment of the Moon, which, due to the collision of a meteorite with the Moon, broke away from it and fell onto the Earth. The fragment framed in the ring was found in 2017 in Algeria. I cut the fragment in half and polished it, removing its sandy-yellow coating and revealing its gray-black interior. Two rings run around it – one with silver roots, the other with a dragon scales motif. All made of black oxidized silver.

The very name of the owner reminded me of “lunula”, a Slavic amulet and a symbol of femininity in the shape of a crescent (the name comes from the word “łuna” = “moon glow”). All these components, subtly intertwined in the history of the ring, have made it three times associated with the Moon.
