Trithon

During my visit in Europe’s biggest art jewelry museum – Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden I had a chance to feed my soul and eyes with works of art and treasures, that only a week after my visit were stolen during the XX and XXI (so far) century biggest museum robberies. I don’t know what is lost and what the thieves did not take. I am saddened to think that the silver quail, the Nautilus shell chalices, the cherry stone with 185 carved heads, the emeralds size of an apricot can be lost for ever… One of the themes, which was very popular during the Baroque and could have also been spotted quite frequently in the museum’s collection – was the Triton riding on a shell chariot. During my visit I was inspired by those pieces and have decided to make a Triton of my own.

The brooch/pendant is made of silver. The role of the chariot plays a Turbo imperialis shell with a black stallion emerging from the inside. It is held by the bridle by the sea god – Triton, the Poseidon’s and Amfitra’s herald. The shell is adorned with 2 black diamonds.
