Virgo Mantis – brooch / pendant

I’ve been working on this tiny sculpture for a long time. It is the second work in the series “Zodiac Signs” and portrays a Virgo. I was inspired to make this piece after seeing beautiful photos of Laurent Seroussi.

Her dress is made of praying mantis wings decorated with 12 natural rubies and 24 carat gold petals.

Her body is decorated with green chrysoprase and her knees with tsavorites. The beautiful Miss holds Ethiopian opal in her hands, which I have cut and polished myself. The stone is intentionally placed at an angle in the hands of Miss Mantis, so that the most green flashes of light appear on it. The body of the Virgo Mantis is gold-plated. She can be worn as a brooch or necklace. Her beauty is best complemented by a string of black spinels.
