XIV Century Book

It’s time to brag about one of the most fascinating projects I had a privilege to take part in. I was asked to make silver decorations for a hand-made, XIV century-stylised book.  The book was made by Mr. Jerzy Budnik- a specialist who cooperates with National Museums in ancient books restorations.

The book is huge, format A3, I don’t even know how thick, where each paper page was separately hand-made. The amount of silver used exceeds 750g. The book is decorated with a very special peyote cactus motif in the center (which tiny needles were gold-plated). The patterns on the corners give it a magical, fairytale-like feeling. I even made 45 silver nails, not to pollute the value of the book by using some accidental metals to connect the wooden-leather cover with the silver decorations. I don’t even know how much time it took me to finish it. But I am extremly proud of this masterpiece.
