With a great sense of pride and gratitude, I would like to share the information that once again my works are exhibited in China, this time in the 4th largest city in China – TianJin – and in one of the oldest museums – the National Museum in Tianjin.
The organizers of the exhibition entitled “Instant and Eternity” (4th edition of the exhibition under the common title “Beauty frozen in time”) are the National Museum in Tianjin, National Museum, Yunnan Provincial Branch, Seba Amber.
On the initiative of Sebastian Tajl and Jack Yang and under their curatorial supervision, the extremely sophisticated exhibition showing Polish amber art and culture achieved a spectacular success. In less than a month, it has already been seen by over 180,000 visitors. The result of the exhibition significantly exceeded the museum’s expectations and is comparable to the results of so-called “mega exhibitions” such as “Alphonse Mucha” or “Napoleon Bonaparte”. By the end of the exhibition, the museum expects that it will be seen by up to half a million visitors.
I would like to add that I was extremely moved by the fact that my necklace “Sagittarius” and its style referring to the Art Nouveau became a direct inspiration for the aesthetic arrangement of the entire interior design of the exhibition’s space in the Museum. I also learned that the aesthetics of the ballet performance performed during the opening ceremony was also inspired by my necklace. This is the same necklace that was noticed by the jury of the Angels of Crafts competition (initiated by Izabela Łapińska) and thanks to which I became its winner.
The author of the “Sagittarius” photo is Łukasz Opaliński.
In addition to the “Sagittarius” necklace, the repeated motif of which can be seen on the walls (line outlines in mirror images), posters and exhibition leaflets, in TianJin you can also personally see my Fairy Tale Chess set made of silver and amber, a ring with a beetle and magnetic wings made of Paua shell and the “Orchard and the Amber Magnifying Glass” necklace – an enlarged photo of which is also printed and placed on one of the walls.
I would like to thank Mr. Sebastian Tajl and Mr. Jack Yang for their extremely hard work and endless dedication to organizing such an amazing and ambitious event. I had the pleasure of seeing the exhibition in videos, and the photos do not fully convey its spectacular effect, the perfectly selected and surprising objects presented at the exhibition, and their extremely aesthetic, coherent and creative display. I am also extremely grateful to the TianJin Museum and the National Museum Yunnan Province that my works were so warmly received. I feel honored to see how wonderfully they are displayed, how passionately viewers look at them, and how wonderfully they look in the aesthetics that correspond to them. Thank you once again!
The main theme of the jewelry part of the exhibition is the evolution of Polish amber jewelry styles from the 1970s to the present day, taking into account the large variety of materials used to create it. The opening of the exhibition was honored with a ballet performance presenting the history of the creation of amber and containing elements of Polish culture. During two performances, it gathered an audience of over 10,000 people.
The exhibition presents approximately 600 exhibits – mainly jewelry, unique goldsmith and artistic objects, as well as amber sculptures. Most of them were created in the workshops of 75 renowned Polish artists, designers and jewelers – highly respected jewelry creators who use amber in their works.
Photos and reports from the event appeared in major local and national media, including China News and Xinhuanet, which remains the most influential online media in the PRC. Information about the exhibition was posted on the official website of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the city of TianJin, and the largest local television station – TianJin TV – prepared and broadcast a prime-time reportage from the exhibition. Even after the opening, the exhibition invariably arouses interest in local and pan-Chinese media, which eagerly publish information and broadcast reports from the event.
The exhibition turned out to be such an important event that on May 10, during an official visit, it was visited by Marta de Zuniga, Director of the Polish Institute in Beijing, and Joanna Kułakowska-Kumoch, Consul of the Republic of Poland in Beijing. The delegation was received by Yu Jian, Party Secretary of the Museum, deputy director of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and Yao Yang, Director of the Tianjin National Museum.
The exhibition opened on April 30, 2024 and will last until August 1, 2024.
