Aphrodite – silver button of the “Gods of Olympus” series

Aphrodite – Greek goddess of beauty, love, desire, fertility, flowers. Her attributes were: a chariot drawn by doves, a rose, an apple and myrtle. She was worshipped especially by women, who saw her as the patroness of marriage.

Aphrodite was born from sea foam and for some time drifted through the Mediterranean Sea in a huge shell. She reached the island of Kythira in the Ionian Islands archipelago, but finally landed in Cyprus. She was considered the most beautiful of all the gods, she had numerous affairs, not only with mortals, but also with gods.

She has a pearl placed above her forehead in a crown, due to her connection with the sea and the seashell.

Gods of Olympus

In Greek mythology, the gods who ruled the world and human life lived on top of Mount Olympus. There were 12 of them: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hermes, Hephaestus, Athena, Ares, Artemis, Apollo, Aphrodite, Demeter, Hades. They were the inspiration for creating 12 buttons decorated with appropriate stones corresponding with a certain god.
