Sagittarius – necklace

The silver pendant portrays a female-warrior with a bow and an arrow and is inspired by one of the myths of the “Zodiac signs”. One of the “Sagittarius myths” says, that only Chiron was a type of Centaur, that was half human-half horse. The other Centaurs were born of the sun and the clouds. She is one of those, who are connected to the sun and the sky. She has beetle-like wings and a bird-like tail, which make her an airborn creature. Her tail is adorned with blue sapphires and Australian opals. I personally found them in a rock in Australia and cut them for this piece. They have beautiful red sparks of fire, which is very rare in an Australian opal and makes it more valuable. Her heart is made of a blue sapphire. Because she is a warrior, her hair is tied in a ponytail (peacock feathers). She has a quiver full of hand-cut arrows, adorned with a garnet. Her bow is decorated at the top and the bottom with orange sapphires.

Because she is a hunter, she also has a hunted prey tied to her body with a silver chain – it is a small fly. That fly is 40 mln years old, because it is a precious amber inclusion.

The necklace is made of Sagittarius’ arrows, so is the fastening. It is decorated with Zambian emeralds, sapphires, garnets and iolites.

The piece was showcased during the “Fairy tales written with silver” exhibition in the Distrcit Museum in Toruń, Poland (2023) and during the GemGeneve in Geneva, Switzerland (2023).
